Anniversaries

Sometimes significant anniversaries sneak up on you.
I’ve been busy living my life, and somehow a certain date caught my attention. I didn’t throw a party; the celebration was more one of quiet thankfulness.
This past week marked four years since I ended active treatment for breast cancer - which in my case was a six-week-plus course of radiation after a unilateral mastectomy. I still take medicine to lessen the odds of recurrence, and I regularly participate in strength training to combat bone loss from those medicines. I only see my oncologist once a year.
This past week also marked three years since I started this blog. At first I was posting weekly, then it trailed off as I found myself pursuing other projects. While I hope this site has been an encouragement to others, it also was a launching pad for my writing. I have since that time been published, won awards, and branched out into many more topics than breast cancer.
I hope to be posting more in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime - let’s celebrate those milestones!
